Transformation from Pain to Active Living
What is a BASRaT-Registered Graduate Sports Rehabilitator (GSR) and what do we do?
BASRaT stands for the British Association of Sports Rehabilitators & Trainers. BASRaT champions and regulates Graduate Sport Rehabilitators (GSR’s) in the UK and Ireland. The Register of Sport Rehabilitators is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority, the UK’s top medical regulator.
GSR’s are healthcare practitioners trained to degree level, and regulated by BASRaT. We treat a wide range of sports related injuries and medical conditions. We care for work-related injuries, help our clients to manage pain and musculoskeletal conditions.
We use biomechanics, soft tissue treatment programmes, manual therapy, evidence-based exercise rehabilitation and education to treat injuries and manage pain.
Grauate Sport Rehabilitators’ clients range from Olympic Athletes to the regular gym-goer, to parents juggling work and childcare and who want to find ways to inlude exercise in their schedule. We provide pitch side care at major sporting events including football, rugby and basketball and cycling. GSR’s work within the MOD and the NHS.
As a Graduate Sport Rehabilitator and Healthcare Professional, I am well placed to help you recover from injury, to work with you after surgery or to aid with long term illness. Of course, if your goal is to take on a new sport, or train for a challenging event, I can help you get fit to get fitter and get ready for that too.
The Sports Massage Association (SMA)
Some GSR’s are also Soft Tissue Therapists in their own right. I hold a BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Sports & Remedial Massage Therapy from NLSSM. I am a Gold Member of the SMA. I integrate Soft Tissue Therapy into my clients’ treatment programmes.
The SMA supports and promotes Soft Tissue Therapists, and ensures that they are trained to a high level. The aims of the SMA are to:
- Establish and maintain the ethical, professional and educational standards for Soft Tissue Therapists
- Ensure the best possible Soft Tissue Therapy is available to sports and non sports people who use SMA registered practitioners.
- Give confidence to the general and sporting public, the medical profession and government agencies that Soft Tissue Therapists are suitably trained to provide a quality service.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
I teach clinical skills at London South Bank University. A long career of teaching GCSE Science and A-Level Biology enables me to help students, personal trainers and qualified therapists add to their expertise. Teaching is a highly specialised profession and I bring a variety of supporting skills to my lessons. I apply accelerated learning techniques that enable my undergraduate students to learn more and learn faster.
I tutor on a one-to-one basis or in small groups to consolidate learning so that my students are confident they will pass their exams.
I conduct workshops and short CPD courses on advanced massage and rehabilitation techniques so that qualified therapists expand the range of services they can offer to their clients. If you would like to know more, give me a call.

I know all about how pain can limit activity and quality of life. It doesn’t have to be like this. If you are curious to know more, contact me for a complimentary 15 minute consultation to explore ways I may be able to help you.
